Raulo Frear, Pharm D

Executive Consultant

Dr. Frear is a 1980 graduate of the University of California, San Francisco, School of Pharmacy. He completed his residency training in Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

After residency he began his career in hospitals and health systems as Intensive Care Unit pharmacist at Methodist Hospital of Southern California. Later he joined the staff of Good Samaritan Hospital & Medical Center, in Portland, Oregon as Associate Director, Pharmacy & IV Therapy, and subsequently moved to Woodland Healthcare, in Woodland California, initially as Director of Pharmacy, and later assuming the role of Executive Director, Ancillary Services.


In 1995 he started his career in managed care pharmacy as Vice President, Clinical Evaluation and Policy at Express Scripts. In 2008 he joined Cambia Health Solutions in Portland, Oregon, where he served initially as Director Contracting and Clinical Analytics, for RegenceRx, and later as General Manager, OmedaRx. Dr. Frear joined Merck in December 2014 as a Medical Affairs Director for the West Region and served in that capacity through 2018 when he accepted the position of Senior Director, Medial Affairs, Managed Markets for Amarin Pharma, Inc. In July of 2021 he retired from that position.

Raulo has served the pharmacy profession in several roles with the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, and the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. In 2014 he was elected President-Elect of the Academy and served his three-year Presidential term through 2017.
